Mom went to see Dr. Van Brakle because the technician from Anwar had told her she had cataracts during a free screening at the shopping center. We chose not to go to the Anwar Eye Center because all of their surgeries are done in Moundsville, WV - too far for us to travel for medical appointment.

The exam showed no cataracts. The blurred/double vision that Mom experiences sometimes is due to a weak eye muscle, probably a result of a minor stroke some time earlier. The fuzziness she sees is due to fluid floating about the eye - both conditions normal and not to worry about. Her vision was good, no adjustment in eyeglass prescription, and pressures were good - 18 & 19.

She was given 2 bottles of eye moisturizer to use in the mornings when her eyes are dry. She had been using Contact Lens drops that Charlie at CVS told her was ok to use - the Doctor took the bottle and tossed it in the trash.

A 1 year exam appointment was made for 2011.
